Brad Pitt is not backing down from his legal battle against ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
In new legal documents filed Thursday by Pitt’s lawyers and obtained by CNN, actor Jolie called his Chateau Miraval stake in 2021 “retaliation” after an “adverse custody ruling.”
“His decision to terminate negotiations with Pitt was deliberate and pretextual,” the documents state. “As proven at trial, Jolie’s actions were unlawful, severely and intentionally harmed Pitt and unjustly enriched herself.”
CNN has reached out to Jolie’s rep for comment.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016. They were declared legally single in 2019, but their divorce and shared custody arrangement for their minor children are yet to be finalized.
Jolie sold her stake in Miraval in October 2021 to Tenute Del Manto, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Scheffler.
Pitt filed his lawsuit first He called the 2022 sale “illegal” because both men agreed when they bought Chateau Miraval that they would not sell it without the other’s consent.
Jolie filed a countersuit, saying there was no such deal and that she sold part of the winery to gain “financial independence” from Pitt and “some sort of peace and closure to this deeply painful and traumatic chapter.” Her and their children’s lives.
The former couple bought the country estate and winery in the south of France in 2008.
