With Victor Vembanyama, Brandon Miller, Scoot Henderson and the rest of the 2023 class headed to the NBA, it’s time to shift our focus to next year’s group.

The 2024 NBA Draft is still 12 months away, but we’ve been tracking these players for quite some time, having released our first mock draft in February. Over the past two years we’ve seen the class’ top prospects grow in high school, AAU, USA Basketball and FIBA events and other all-star organizations, and we’ll continue that process this summer and fall.

NBA teams still have a lot to learn about this group, especially at the top, and the feeling among scouts is that things are wide open. This class is considered the weakest class of high school seniors we’ve seen in years, leaving a lot of uncertainty about the landscape of the 2024 lottery and no clear top prospects.

New players will undoubtedly emerge throughout the college ranks and around the world, and unlike years past, there are rare opportunities for lesser-heralded players to move into the top five of the draft.

By comparison, Jupiter (similar to what we saw in 2022 and 2021), something we didn’t expect to happen in 2024, our 2023 mock draft a year ago correctly predicted four of the top five picks called Jupiter.

The G League Ignite and the Australian NBL are becoming increasingly important evaluation platforms in the NBA scouting world, as evidenced by the fact that six of the top 25 projected draft picks are currently signed there, including the top two players in our mock draft. , who will play for Ignite.

With NBA scouts heavily scrutinized throughout the season, expect significant movement as unknown players emerge and other, more highly regarded prospects inevitably stagnate or fall.

Let’s see how our mockumentary is shaping up at this early stage and the best storylines to follow in 2024.

The 2024 draft order is based on ESPN projections and reflects the current status of pending and owned picks:
